Since Lily had promised to go play with a friend after school on Friday, she quickly whipped through the homework assignment without being too careful. Now, after we caught the mistake, we've made a new house rule: "No playing until after your homework is finished." Katsumi and I will continue to monitor her progress but we have to be strict in this rule for her to concentrate completely on the task at hand and for her to not lose sight of what's important. School is a wonderful way to socialize and enjoy your time, but the main priority has to be to study. She's learning how we truly believe in this phrase with this new rule. Her mom and I want her to succeed in life and we want her to value hard work and dedication. She is starting to realize this, I think.

As they say, it's back to the old grindstone. Golden Week has finished and it's a straight 2 and 1/2 months or so of work, work, work from here on out until the summer break. Let's make them the best we can with what we have available. This is how creativity arises, in the moment and to fit to a tee with the situation at present. I'm used to my alternating schedule between schools and between Junior High year levels. I believe I have a good handle on the preparation I must do for each class, especially WHEN to do these preparations. Time is of the essence and I must stay on top of the tasks in order to be a better teacher. No one would expect any less than this from a veteran teacher. I'll keep doing my best.
