Prime Minister Abe of Japan gave a letter of gratitude today to the family grieving for the loss of their daughter, 40-year-old Natsume Murata. This fearless woman got out of her own car at a railroad crossing when she saw a a 74-year-old man caught in the tracks as the train was approaching. She gave her own life to save his.
This kind of bravery and ultimate consideration for others demonstrated from this real-life heroine should teach us all about self-sacrifice and how we must cherish life and all of its gifts. We must take care of one another and protect those who cannot protect themselves. At times, in a split-second, we are called upon to choose the truth we hold dear. Ms. Murata chose to save someone she didn't even know without question because she knew it was the right thing to do.
