Daughters

Is it every father's struggle to connect with his daughter when they reach a certain age? In English, in Japanese and through emotional recognition of familial roles, do these bonds become unfocused due to oncoming hormonal changes? I have a pre-pre-teen daughter (nearly 11 years old) and we have recently had some spats of miscommunication.

We must try to reconnect, for our bonds, though seemingly fragile at the moment, are unbreakable. The love transcends any language. The depth of our connection goes beyond surface of misconstrued reactions. I PLEDGE to recommit myself to working on how she can express herself in both languages with both my and her mother's help. She already is partially bilingual and I want her to continue along this path. As a human being, she can only benefit from having access to the best of both worlds. As a woman, she can only grow in knowing how the world works in many facets among a multi-cultural background.

Lilica's art, her creations, her life force shall be born of her vivid imagination. I will continue to feed it and nourish her soul with bountiful and fruitful experiences that she'll never forget in a lifetime. One moment at a time. So God and the Universe help me. OMATEOTL ("All my relations.").
