Purple haze before the brilliant sunrise!

Influenza, AKA the flu AKA インフル, hits in different ways but its outcome is always the same. Treatment, bed rest and care should be taken up to 5 days after being diagnosed, meaning you shouldn't go anywhere and you ought to rest as much as possible and drink many fluids. The reason for the time frame is to prevent the spread of the disease (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm). These things I understand logically.

I work as a school teacher, so I especially have to follow this time frame since I deal in a very public work space with many children. I was diagnosed last Wednesday with Influenza, Type A+, although I actually felt the symptoms at least a day earlier. Yet, my "day 1" didn't start until Thursday since the doctor considers the start time as "day 0." I'm so very ready to go back to work. I feel healthy, energetic and ready to plunge back into the grind, yet I must wait one more day.

So, this gift, wanted or not, of one more day off should be put to good use. I'll call my teachers for lesson planning this evening. I'll see what prep I can do here at home. I just feel so ready to go back to work. My family has been sick for nearly the same time as I have been, but they too have recovered quickly. For my wifey, there's no need for waiting for anything since she doesn't have to go to any of her part-time jobs until next week. For my daughter, she'll probably be able to return to school either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how her doctor (a children's specialist) designates her "day 0." In the meantime, we are all bouncing off each other here at home.

I thought this was a very cool fan video for Naomi Osaka.
