Turn Tragedy Into Triumph

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
(excerpt from "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou)

These days, the precarious dream that was America seems to be distilled in ferocious spasms of an onslaught of nightmarish, racist patriotism and misogynistic one-upmanship. Out of these globs of shadowy evil, the inner light of Truth begets a pulse: although "Judge" Brett Kavanaugh was appointed to the Supreme Court, even in the light of his alleged sexual misconduct in the past, a group has claimed the web space in his name to further the polar cause. Women, and their supporters, have come together to offer "a national focus on the issue of sexual assault – and how we as a country can and should do more to prevent it and to support those who have experienced it" (https://www.brettkavanaugh.com).

More efforts like these are necessary to curve negative behavior in men and to empower women to find their inner strength and emblaze that encrouching abyss that is our current, male-dominant societal mindset with the Sun and Moon of empathy, equality and justice.
