It's been 6 years in the making, but now, our little girl is officially an Elementary school student. There are only two classes (homerooms) in her grade level, which is kind of small, yet her teachers seem to be very energetic and knowledgeable. I got the sense that Lilica's homeroom teacher is a veteran teacher who is very much aware of her classroom and very accurate in giving the appropiate praise to her students. I think I can learn I lot from her too.
Before the Entrance Ceremony, Katsumi and I sat in a nearly empty gym
There's still lots to do in preparing for this first year of school. We've all worked to get the basics down like getting Lilica's new desk to study assembled and arranging our morning schedules to fit with when she needs to start walking to school. She's going to walk around 25 minutes one way to get to school, with Katsumi walking part of the way with her for a while. Eventually, Lily will be walking alone, or possibly with some classmates, but it's the first time she tastes true independence. She'sgrowing up so fast.
I am very proud of our daughter. Little by little, I have seen her grow up and I have also needed to let go, slowly. I know she'll be fine, in fact, I believe she's going to be GREAT!!! Her 3 1/2 year stay at kindergarten was an excellant preparation for her entrance into the academic term of her life. She's very polite and can be kind. There are a few things she still needs to learn, yet I am confident that she will. Many blessings will befall on her in her life and this entrance is only the beginning.
